A Star-Studded Weekend: Coriolis Company at the LA Times Festival of Books
Coriolis Company had a fantastic time attending the LA Times Festival of Books, which took place at the University of Southern California from April 22-23, 2023. The festival is one of the largest and most prestigious book events in the country, drawing in more than 150,000 attendees each year. This year’s festival featured over 500 exhibitors, including publishers, booksellers, literary organizations, and more. We wanted to send you a quick recap so you can get a taste of the experience in case you didn’t attend in person this year.
Our booth (#222—what a lucky number!) was a hub of activity throughout the festival. We talked to attendees about our publicity and marketing services, which are designed to help authors and publishers promote their books and reach a wider audience. We also highlighted our summer internship program, which gives students the opportunity to gain hands-on experience in the world of book publishing and marketing. And we gave attendees a sneak peek of our new book publicity and marketing app, which is currently in its beta testing phase.
Of course, the real stars of our booth were the authors we work with. At the festival, we had the opportunity to hang out with some of our clients such as Shaun M. Anderson, Clarkisha Kent, Evelyn Alsultany, Cassandra Lane, Natalia Molina, Andrea Carter Brown, and Kristin Henning. We hosted a social media book giveaway to help get our clients’ books into the hands of passionate readers. These authors in attendance signed books and spoke on incredible panels.

We were thrilled to have attended some of these panels during the festival. Georgetown Law Professor Kristin Henning spoke about the current issues of policing, prisons, and broken systems. USC Professor Natalia Molina was on a panel about the stories of struggle and survival of crossing borders, and another USC Professor, Evelyn Alsultany, spoke to a packed audience about Muslim inclusion in Hollywood and Higher Education. Culture Critic Clarkisha Kent was on an inspiring and passionate panel about the intersect between arts and culture, and what comes with telling stories about your life.

For us, attending the LA Times Festival of Books was a great opportunity to connect with readers and authors, and to showcase the work we do in the literary world. As a company that’s dedicated to helping authors and publishers succeed, events like this are an essential part of the industry.
But it’s not just about the business – the LA Times Festival of Books is a celebration of the written word, and we were proud to be a part of it. From the authors we represent to the readers we met, it was an unforgettable experience!
