Colin Dayan's Reviews,
Interviews and Features
We are very excited for Professor Colin Dayan who has several upcoming virtual events. She will be in conversation with fellow writers and thinkers about her memoir, Animal Quintet, published by the Los Angeles Review of Books.
In her memoir, Professor Dayan asks readers to envision another political life, a reorientation of our ways of seeing and thinking, to examine our ethical and conceptual assumptions from the perspective of other creatures, to imagine an alternative way of being in the world, of thinking and loving. Animal Quintet is a coming-of-age story that depends on an unexpected attentiveness, on another kind of intelligibility beyond the world of the human.
Previously, on February 18, 2021, she joined professor and historian, Jon Wiener, author of Conspiracy in the Streets: The Extraordinary Trial of the Chicago Seven, and discussed the Chicago Seven Trial in light of its contemporary relevance to today’s Black Lives Matter protest movements.
Among other reviews, Animal Quintet was reviewed by Aubrey Cofield on the Southern Review of Books.
Professor Dayan was also interviewed by Dixa Ramírez D’Oleo for the Los Angeles Review of Books, Maria Browning for Chapter 16, and Lisa Haselton for her blog. Animal Quintet was also featured by The Consummate Reader.
