FAQ

What is Coriolis Company, and how do you help authors and academics?

Coriolis Company is the leading book publicity and media training firm for scholars, thought leaders, and public intellectuals. We specialize in academic book publicity, ensuring that research-driven works receive the attention they deserve. We work with Pulitzer Prize-winning historians, MacArthur “Genius” Fellows, National Book Award finalists, Guggenheim Fellows, Poet Laureates, and professors whose research shapes policy and public thought. Our expertise is particularly sought after by BIPOC, LGBTQ+, and historically marginalized scholars, whose work challenges dominant narratives and deserves to be at the forefront of public conversations.

We are not a traditional PR firm that runs “book-only” campaigns. None of our campaigns focus solely on the book. We position our clients as experts in their fields, promoting their speaker series, curatorial projects, fellowships, podcasts, and the other ways they shape public discourse.

Our campaigns have secured:

  1. Media placements in The New York Times, The Washington Post, The Atlantic, NPR, BBC, PBS, CNN, MSNBC, The Guardian, The New Yorker, The Chronicle of Higher Education, The Times Literary Supplement, Bookforum, and thousands more.
  2. Speaking invitations at Harvard, Yale, Princeton, UCLA, Oxford, the LA Times Festival of Books, the Brooklyn Book Festival, hundreds of bookstores, and major international conferences.
  3. Features on leading intellectual platforms including Vox, Slate, FiveThirtyEight, The Ezra Klein Show, and many more.

We also provide:

  1. Digital strategy & social media consulting, helping authors build an effective online presence that fits their workload and audience.
  2. Website design for authors, crafting media-ready, professional websites tailored to their professional personas.
  3. Ongoing graphic design to support authors’ various projects.

Our clients are busy, and they need a team that handles everything—and does it exceptionally well. That’s Coriolis.

Who do you work with?

We have been fortunate to work with some of today’s leading professors, experts, writers, and public intellectuals, as well as several notable literary organizations. Please visit our clients page to see some examples.

What are your fees?

Our MLoE (minimum level of engagement) is $12,000 for a campaign. If this is not in your price range, consultations with founder and lead publicist Nanda Dyssou are available for $500/hour and can be booked here.

What makes Coriolis different from other PR firms?

Most book publicity firms consider it a success if they book a dozen engagements for their clients, and those numbers are usually lower for academic authors. We regularly book 35–65 engagements per campaign.

Here’s why:

  1. We are deeply embedded in academic and literary circles and have the most extensive database of BIPOC, LGBTQ+, disabled, and otherwise marginalized members of the media, influencers, outlets, and event venues. We’ve built these connections deliberately and continue to nurture them.
  2. We don’t just offer strategy. We execute it. Many PR firms (and most publishers these days) provide little to no guidance and expect the author to handle large parts of their own campaigns. Our clients don’t have time for that, so we support them 100%.
  3. We integrate AI-driven tools for outreach, data tracking, and ad management, reducing costs and optimizing efficiency while keeping campaigns effective.
  4. We ensure every client is media-ready. Most of our clients have not done high-profile media interviews before, so we provide extensive coaching to make sure they excel. This is an area of expertise for us that universities and professional organizations also often request.
