FAQ about our Event Management and Promotion Services

What type of events does Coriolis Company specialize in planning?

We specialize in the design, planning, management, and promotion of literary events. This includes literary festivals, book fairs, conferences, book club events, book tours, literary fundraisers, and more. Whether you’re planning a large conference, a small trade show, or a bookish theme party, we can help.

Why do you specialize in literary event planning and promotion?

Founder Nanda Dyssou has long had a passion for bringing communities together. Over the course of the past decades she has planned, hosted, and/or promoted over 400 events, such as employee outings and trade shows for small businesses, advance film screenings in cooperation with various studios and production companies, outings to and the promotion of women’s empowerment events like the Los Angeles Ultimate Women’s Expo, Inspiring Women’s Summit, countless Murder Mystery Dinner Shows, Art Fairs and Walks, Reading Nights, Quiz Nights, Craft Events, Book Swaps, and more.

She is the founder and organizer of the Los Angeles Hungarian Language and Culture Meetup Group (430 members) and the 20-something Ladies Social Group (1,700 members).

Nanda had also served as Assistant Director of Writers Week at UC Riverside in 2018, Volunteer Coordinator of the Black Caucus at AWP’s Annual Conference in 2018, Steering Committee Member and Black Caucus Leader of the University of California’s Students of Color Conference, and more.

She completed several professional courses to get certified in Event Design, Event Planning, and Event Management.

After earning a BA and an MFA in Creative Writing (Fiction), Nanda saw a gap in how literary events were promoted. Often, organizers put a lot of effort into creating great events, inviting wonderful authors to read, but forgot about details like making sure the location was accessible, providing a written program schedule in advance, making refreshments available, or advertising the event. Nanda knew that there was a better way, and began taking the same approach to planning and promoting literary events as she has to other events: it should be meticulously organized, shamelessly promoted, and seamlessly executed.

If you are ready to take your event to the next level and make sure that it is well organized, managed, and sold out, reach out today and let Nanda and Coriolis make your literary event a success.

What are your favorite aspects of literary event planning?

The Los Angeles literary community is a vibrant group of book-lovers that we really enjoy being around. Connecting them to each other, bringing readers to events and helping authors sell more books is what puts a smile on our faces. That’s what the Coriolis Event Division is all about.

How early should you start planning an event?

We will work with your timeline no matter what, but starting early will yield the best results. Intimate gatherings can be planned with 2-4 weeks of notice. For large-scale events involving thousands of attendees and spanning over multiple days, you should start planning 12-18 months in advance.

What types of event services does Coriolis Company offer?

We offer services that cover all aspects of the event planning process, including budgeting, venue and vendor selection, contract negotiations, menu planning, preparing a timeline, managing staff and vendors, day-of coordination, media, and public relations outreach, event sponsorship and fundraising research, event promotion, ticket sales, and more.

What kind of support can you offer during my event?

Our goal is to lift the burden of planning and administration off your shoulders so you can focus on entertaining your guests and enjoying your event. Therefore, we offer everything you need for your literary event, including event design, event management, event promotion, and all other services that make your event a success.

We can handle all administrative support including creating guest registration templates, data entry, report creation, itineraries, printing and distribution of name badges, the purchasing of gifts and awards for speakers, the creation of event inserts, feedback forms, and more.

Do you work with other event professionals in the Los Angeles area?

Yes, we have a network of trusted event professionals throughout the area including caterers, sales managers of venues, DJs and musicians, florists, décor rental companies, printers, and more. If you need recommendations, we will be happy to supply them.

Can you help with literary events outside of the Los Angeles area?

Of course. We are happy to help plan, manage, and promote literary events nationwide or internationally.
