The Vibrant Center: A New Consciousness for Our Broken Age

We’re happy to spotlight The Vibrant Center: A New Consciousness for Our Broken Age by psychologist and author Kirk J. Schneider, published in June 2026 by University Professors Press.

Extremism and polarization have moved well beyond politics and into households, classrooms, workplaces, and houses of worship. In The Vibrant Center, Kirk J. Schneider argues that repairing this damage takes more than leaders who choose dialogue over dogma. It requires a change in consciousness across everyday life, from parenting and education to work, religious and spiritual settings, and governance.

Schneider’s center is not a safe middle or a mechanical balance. It is dynamic and responsive to circumstance, a pivot point that favors choice over reactivity and possibility over prejudice, grounded in presence, openness, and discernment.

Drawing on decades of existential-humanistic thought, case examples, and the lives of figures such as Viktor Frankl, Simone de Beauvoir, Nelson Mandela, and Maya Angelou, the book offers concrete strategies for moving a fear-based, mechanized culture toward one that is awe-based and vibrant.
