Jonathan Waterlow
We are so thrilled to be working with the author, professor, editor, podcast host, historian, and traveler, Professor Jonathan Waterlow.
Professor Waterlow grew up in Edinburgh by way of Brussels and has since lived in Russia, Ukraine, Canada, and the US. He studied at the Universities of Edinburgh, St. Andrews, the Herzen State Pedagogical University (Russia), and Oxford, where he received his Ph.D. in History and taught for several years.
His latest book, It’s Only a Joke, Comrade! Humour, Trust and Everyday Life under Stalin, uncovers the secret world of political jokes under Stalin’s dictatorship and explores how humour helps us to make sense of our lives, even in the direst circumstances.
