Ayize's Author Events,
Readings, and Interviews
On May 11th, Professor Ayize joined Mysterious Galaxy Bookstore’s celebration of its 26th birthday in San Diego. He read an excerpt from his book, as did other authors like Stephen Blackmoore (Eric Carter series).
He was also interviewed by fellow authors Maddie White and Tenea Johnson on their blogs, on May 15, 2019 and June 3, 2019 respectively.
Maddie is a Flash Fiction writer, and her shorter pieces have been featured in Flash Fiction Magazine, Rhythm and Bones, Mojave Heart Review, Stigma Fighters, and many others. Tenea is a Kentucky-born spec fic author, poet, and musician.
On June 12, Ayize had the privilege of meeting with young men at the Youth Treatment and Education Center in Riverside as part of the Real Men Read program. He loves combining two of his favorite things: youth work and writing. You can click the image below to see more photos.
It may be graduation time for MFA candidates but Ayize doesn’t rest on his laurels. He just earned his fourth Masters Degree on June 15, 2019, completed a thesis manuscript that’s already with the Elizabeth Kaplan Agency, and still found time to do several events and interviews this month. We are in awe!
He also got to interview Hugo Award-winning author Sarah Gailey at Cellar Door Books on June 29. They talked about Sarah’s new book, Magic for Liars, a clever and fast-paced magical mystery.
