An Evening with James Ellroy

We just finished working on promoting an unforgettable literary event: the LARB Luminary Dinner with James Ellroy.

On June 13, 2019, the Los Angeles Review of Books (LARB), a 501(c)(3) literary nonprofit organization, were to host the “Demon Dog of Crime Fiction” James Ellroy for an evening in Hancock Park. The event was graciously hosted by Brian Curran and Kevin MacLellan at their historic Hancock Park O’Melveny estate.

We didn’t pass up the chance to attend and personally oversee the event to guarantee that everything went smoothly. We also found and coordinated with a photographer to capture the unforgettable moments of the night. Special thanks to Alex Zam for the wonderful photos.

We contacted various media and event listing sites to add the event to local calendars.

We also found the most relevant influencers in the Los Angeles literary world and asked them to share the event with their followers.

Below are some of the results.

We reached out to previous guests of LARB Luminary Dinners and invited them to attend, including those who had attended the Evening with Austin Beutner, and the Dinner with Margaret Atwood.

During Cocktail Hour guests had a chance to meet and chat with the guest of honor James Ellroy.

Among the guests were author, Professor Emeritus at CSULB, and Coriolis client Brian Finney, along with his wife, fine art photographer J.K. Lavin.

After cocktails, the guests were seated for dinner, followed by a conversation between James Ellroy and Coriolis client Tom Lutz.

Tickets purchased for this event helped support LARB, a nonprofit community of writers, critics, artists, and scholars dedicated to promoting conversations about society, culture, and the literary arts.

Each ticket came with copies of the Everyman’s Library edition of The L.A. Quartet, and Mr. Ellroy’s latest book, This Storm, which he signed after dinner.

We are grateful to have been part of this wonderful literary event.

After the event, an email was sent out to sponsors and guests, thanking them for supporting LARB and taking part in a superb evening. It was a successful and unique experience full of special touches that the guests will likely never forget.

Here’s a short slideshow of the event highlights.
